Her journey began with a win at the 1984 Miss India pageant, leading to a brief role in Sultanat (1986) and a breakthrough performance in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), earning her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. The actress solidified her position in Bollywood with a series of successful films in 1993, including Lootere, Aaina, Darr, and notably, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, which garnered her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
