The post of the chairperson of Delhi Commission for the Protection of Child Rights has been lying vacant since last July last year. The court was told that in March the LG had made an 'interim arrangement' to fill up the vacancy.

The Supreme Court had, however, observed that "this is why high courts are there" and added that the apex court had in the past entertained pleas dealing with broader constitutional issues.
