Vir Das calls Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year ‘faltu’, says the script of Om Shanti Om was ‘ridiculous’; Farah Khan says, ‘Are you insulting me?’
Farah Khan recently went to Vir Das' house for her latest vlog where they discussed their various films including Happy Patel, Happy New Year, Tees Maar Khan and Om Shanti Om.

Farah Khan and her longtime cook Dilip recently visited stand-up comic and actor Vir Das at his home as part of the promotions for his upcoming film Happy Patel. During their light-hearted meet-and-greet, Farah tried to introduce Dilip to Vir’s new film. However, Dilip ended up comparing it to Farah’s 2014 film Happy New Year, leaving everyone in splits. Reacting to the comparison, Vir Das jokingly called it “faaltu.”
During the conversation, Farah pointed towards Vir and asked Dilip, “Do you know his film is releasing soon… do you know what film that is?”
Dilip looked blank as Farah said, “He doesn’t know anything. Vir’s film is titled Happy Patel.” Jumping in, Vir added, “Khatarnaak Jasoos.” An excited Dilip responded, “But you have made Happy New Year.” A visibly disappointed Farah said, “He just likes to take one word and then he says whatever he wants.”
Vir then turned towards Dilip and joked, “Usi type ka pagalpan, faltu type ki picture hai. (It’s a crazy and hilarious film just like Happy New Year).”
A shocked Farah immediately asked Vir, “Wait a second, did you just call my film faltu?” Vir quickly tried to cover up, saying, “My film is fully faltu!” To which Farah quipped, “You mean to say mine was half faltu?”
Laughing it off, Farah later confessed that she genuinely loved Happy Patel’s trailer and happily promoted the film, which is set to release on January 16. “It is my kind of funny. I love how you have used an accent for your character. I don’t know if it’s everybody’s cup of tea, but I loved it,” Farah said.
Vir agreed and added, “Of course, the stars are nowhere near, but anybody who liked Om Shanti Om will like this film.”
“That means the entire country,” Farah replied. Vir went on to say, “It is a top spoof movie—more than Tees Maar Khan.”
Farah then revealed, “Vir just told me that a lot of references in Happy Patel are from Om Shanti Om.”
Vir agreed and added: “The tone is similar. Om Shanti Om is a film where the script is ridiculous, but the actors are playing it as if it’s completely real.”
“Of course, you can’t act comic just because it’s a comedy film,” Farah added.
Echoing her thought, Vir said, “That was our first brief to all our actors—you believe everything that’s happening.” However, Farah was still stuck on the word “ridiculous” and joked, “He just called my script stupid. I don’t know if he’s complimenting me or insulting me.”
The conversation then moved on to Farah’s signature segment of gifting her guests. As she handed out multiple presents, Vir joked, “You are like Santa Claus—but successful.”
