Jennifer Hudson pays tribute to Whitney
In the most poignant moment of the award night,singer Jennifer Hudson paid a music tribute to her idol by singing the late Whitney Houstons signature songs,I Will Always Love You,ending it with Whitney,we will always love you. Meanwhile,authorities in Los Angeles said an autopsy of Houston was completed Monday and that no foul play was suspected. The results have been withheld pending a toxicology report that will determine the cause of her death.
Also Monday,Houstons daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown was rushed to the hospital. Bobbi,18,got into a screaming match with police outside her mothers room when they refused to let her see the body,reported TMZ. Bobbi physically couldnt move after learning of her mothers death and was taken to hospital, a source said.
BAFTA awards: The Artist,Meryl Streep win big
French black and white drama The Artist won gold at the 65th British Film Academy Awards winning seven trophies. The awards,which are Britains equivalent of the Oscars,gave the Best Film trophy to The Artist,a French homage to old silent film era in Hollywood. The films star Jean Dujardin took home the Best Leading Actor award,leaving behind the likes of Hollywood bigwigs like Brad Pitt (Moneyball),George Clooney (The Descendants) and Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). Director of The Artist Michel Hazanavicius won prizes for directing and his original screenplay. Meryl Streep was named best actress for her depiction of Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.
