Kabali 2 confirmed, Rajinikanth yet to say yes

However, speculation says that Rajinikanth would take up the lead role only after listening to the final draft of the project.

Clearing the air on who would be making the sequel to Rajinikanth’s blockbuster hit Kabali, latest update says that Kalaipuli S Thanu will be producing Kabali 2.

Reports suggest that title Kabali 2 has been registered at the Tamil Nadu Film Chambers, clearly sending the signal that Thanu will also bankroll the sequel to the Malaysian don flick. The regular shooting of the film is said to start next year.

However, speculation says that Rajinikanth would take up the lead role only after listening to the final draft of the project. The rest of the crew is not yet confirmed. Popular Bollywood actor Radhika Apte played the lead opposite Rajinikanth in Kabali.

Under Pa.Ranjith’s direction, Kabali, released earlier in this year, has reportedly minted close to Rs 500 worldwide at the box office. The news would also lead us to conclude that Dhanush would not be producing this project. Dhanush tweeted a clip a few months back suggesting that after Rajinikanth’s 2.0, he would be working with Rajinikanth and Pa.Ranjith. This had led to buzz that Kabali 2 would be made by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films.

“I’m so proud and honoured to announce our production’s next film,” Dhanush had shared. Now this might be another big project with the similar combination.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is gearing for the release of 2.0 as the shoot was wrapped in Chennai last month. The film is a sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Enthiran, which is said to be Shankar’s most ambitious project so far. Its Hindi version was titled Robot, and starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
