Mumbai: FDA notice to airport chemist shop

The FDA has issued a notice to chemist chain Apollo Pharmacy for selling drugs without prescription to passengers at the city airport’s T2.

The FDA has issued a notice to chemist chain Apollo Pharmacy for selling drugs without prescription to passengers at the city airport’s T2.

“The chemist was issued a show-cause notice and action will be taken against them,” said Mumbai District Joint Commissioner for drugs, B R Masal. A letter was also sent to the AAI, claiming the shops were selling Schedule H and H1 drugs without sales invoices.

“Sometimes, passengers need Schedule H1 drugs in an emergency. Our pharmacy issues them small quantities of the medicine even if they do not have prescription. This is to ensure patient safety,” a spokesperson from Apollo Pharmacy said.
