The exams are being conducted for recruitment to 30,000 Grade III and Grade IV posts in the Assam government for which more than 14 lakh candidates are competing on August 21, 28 and September 11.

A separate petition seeking bail for Buragohain is pending in the Gauhati High Court, with the next hearing slated for July 21.
Following demands to release her, the Assam Police Special DGP (law and order) G P Singh in a statement on Wednesday said "due process was being followed".

With Silchar submerged under water for the last 72 hours, TMC MP Sushmita Dev hit out at CM Himanta Biswa Sarma following the arrival of Eknath Shinde and rebel Sena MLAs in Assam. The CM is "busy poaching MLAs, and putting them up in five-star hotels. This is really bad," Dev said.
Assam floods: In the last 24 hours, all of Silchar — southern Assam’s biggest town and the gateway to the three Barak valley districts — has been submerged in water unlike “ever before in its history”.
As rain continued to batter parts of the state, affecting more than 45 lakh people in 32 districts, Home Minister Amit Shah said an inter-ministerial Central team would be dispatched to assess the damage.
