K’taka Oppn boycott CM’s breakfast meeting

Sources said leaders did not attend meeting as Gowda sent just them invitation letter.

Senior Congress and JDS leaders in Karnataka on Friday spurned an invitation by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda for a meeting over breakfast.

While Gowda waited for the leaders’ arrival at his official residence, none of them turned up,official sources said.

Gowda had sent invitations to Opposition Congress leader in the state assembly Siddaramaiah, his counterpart in the Upper House Motamma,Deputy leaders of Opposition in assembly T B Jayachandra,R S Patil in Legislative Council,JDS leader H D Revanna and M C Nanaiah.

Sources close to Siddaramaiah said leaders were irked by the manner in which they were invited as Gowda sent them a letter and did not bother to invite them personally at least over phone.

All the leaders chose to stay away from the breakfast meet, sources said.

With this,Gowda’s effort to rope in Opposition cooperation seemed to have suffered a setback for now.
