Haryana Assembly Election 2024: Haryana is one of the eight states scheduled to hold legislative assembly elections in the ongoing year, as India gears up for general elections and assembly elections in some of the Indian states in 2024.

The state is preparing to elect all 90 members of the assembly as the current tenure of the coalition government formed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) is set to end soon.

When will the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 be held?

The Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 are most likely to be held on or before October 2024, as the current Legislative Assembly’s tenure is set to end on November 3, 2024. However, the detailed election schedule is yet to be announced.

Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: The Present Scenario 

The state of Haryana is currently led by a coalition government formed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), and seven independent alliances, under the leadership of the BJP’s Manohar Lal Khattar as the Chief Minister and JJP’s President Dushyant Chautala as the Deputy Chief Minister.

Haryana Assembly Elections: Recap 2019

The previous Assembly elections took place on October 21st, 2019, which saw the BJP, led by Manohar Lal Khattare, emerge as the single-largest party with 40 seats, which was short of an outright majority. As a result, the party formed the government in a post-poll alliance with the Jannayak Janta Party (10 seats) and 7 Independent MLAs. Congress finished second with 31 seats, while regional satrap INLD could only bag 1 seat.

As a result, BJP and JJP formed a coalition government with the BJP’s Manohar Lal Khattar being appointed as the Chief Minister for the second term while Dushyant Chautala of the JJP as the Deputy Chief Minister.
