One rarely associates chilli as a makeup or even skincare ingredient. However, a video featuring a “viral chilli lip gloss” challenge has grabbed eyeballs online. As the name suggests, the video shows a girl taking out a clear lip gloss on a flat surface and then adding a bunch of chilli flakes to it. She then applies this mixture to her lips before rubbing it away after a few moments.
It appears that there is barely any change to her lips. The idea of putting chilli flakes on one’s lips apparently aims to give one’s lips a fuller look as the burn caused by the chilli flakes is expected to inflame the lips or cause a swollen effect on them. However, it looks like it doesn’t give the same effect in this case.
This video was posted on Instagram by Jahanvi Singh (@fancy.pinks), a beauty and skincare content creator. While sharing this video, Singh wrote, “Viral Chilli lip gloss🌶️✨Never again🙅🏻♀️”.
This video has so far gathered over 31,000 likes since it was posted on May 1. Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “I randomly tried zandu balm once same effects 😎👌💪”. Another person joked, “Next is getting slapped by mummy and calling it blush”.
An Instagram user observed, “dude I actually love how you didn’t waste the whole lip gloss by adding chilli flakes in the container but instead took a small amount of it on the Pallet 😭🤍 REAL INFLUENCERS WHO KNOW THE VALUE OF PRODUCTS🧡😩”.
