The Raja Saab is releasing pan-India in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. It is also doing good business overseas in advance sales. As per Venky Box Office, the film has collected $1,030,538 (Rs 9.27 crore) in advance booking from the US, selling 37,546 tickets for 1,784 shows across 526 locations on Thursday by 1 pm. As per reports, the film is expected to have a Rs 65 crore opening.
The film also received major relief when it comes to ticket pricing. The Telangana High Court overturned an earlier order that restrained any increase in ticket prices and left the matter of ticket price enhancement to the discretion of the state government. The court allowed this stating that The Raja Saab is a low-budget film and such steps are mainly taken for big-budget films like Pushpa 2, Game Changer, OG and Akhanda 2.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government allowed an increase in ticket prices, with a hike of Rs 150 in single-screen theatres and Rs 200 in multiplexes, for a duration of 10 days starting from the release day.
Along with Prabhas, The Raja Saab also stars Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan (in her Telugu film debut), Riddhi Kumar, and Zarina Wahab.
The Raja Saab is mounted on a reported budget of Rs 300 crore and is written and directed by Maruthi. The film is produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment and is scheduled to release in theatres on January 9.

User @TripathiVerse's posted a note on X which read, "The Cinephile in me pushed me to watch #therajasaab Today. Rating: 1.5/5. CRINGE-FEST! The only Positive of the movie is the entry scene of #prabhas. Rest of the movie is slow, outdated and obviously a complete joke of CINEMA. Go and watch it only if you wanna waste your hard earned money. PRABHAS Acting in the movie is so so Dull ...he looks lethargic all the way..it's time for him to look into his fitness and choose better scripts. The movie is full of VFX trying to hide Prabhas body and face fat..and to worsen it ... PRABHAS's Sleepy acting throughout didn't help either. SKIP! SKIP! SKIP! SKIP! SKIP! SKIP!"
A tweet by user @WVish_Official read, "I think #theraajasaab is way ahead of its time. It has layers, it's philosophical, it tells you that life is uncertain, anything can happen at any moment of time, that's why random things were happening in the film. It was all metaphorical. Maruthi you are a genius. #prabhas"
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Prabhas starrer The Raja Saab has earned around Rs 15.34 crore as of 4 pm on Friday.
X user @GemsOfWood shared, "#theraajasaab failure has proved one thing that Prabhas can't do anything then action mass. He is fully dependent on big directors and slow motion shots. Diversity is not his cup of tea."
X user @iamsiddharthhhh took to X and wrote, "Honestly It's a good watch and I laughed a lot, but people here are writing so many negative reviews and trying very hard to bring down a good movie. Don't believe such negativity it's a ticket worthy movie. Go for it."
Talking about Parasakthi and Jana Nayagan, X user @Vasudha156 shared via X, "One film gets a clean green signal, the other is dragged through hurdle after hurdle. Both are political films so let’s not pretend this is just “process”. This looks like power and politics at play."
V2Cinemas shared The Raja Saab Movie Review that read, "#therajasaab [3.25/5] Slow burn, strong payoff. Solid performances by #prabhas, impressive flashback highs, massy interval, Thaman’s music lifting scenes, and a visually grand final act. A genre film made for the big screen."
Venky Reviews shared via X, "The Raja Saab A Horror/Fantasy Drama with an interesting concept and an energetic Prabhas, but a clumsy and disjointed screenplay make it tiresome! The core concept is intriguing, and a few sequences built around it work well, especially the pre-climax. However, the commercial elements feel outdated and test patience throughout the film. The disjointed screenplay by Maruti, combined with choppy editing, hampers the flow. It is refreshing to see Prabhas in an energetic role after a long time. He easily stands out as the film’s biggest strength. The VFX works in a few places but falls short in others. Thaman’s music keeps the proceedings afloat. While it is commendable to see a star back a fresh concept, the director fails to present it in an engaging manner. The intended impact does not land. Not up to the mark! "
Prabhas’ fans shocked people by carrying fake crocodiles into theatres during screenings of his film The Raja Saab as it released on January 9. The props were inspired by a scene in the trailer where Prabhas’ character is seen throwing a crocodile during a fight. A video is going viral where fans can be seen holding the dummy crocodiles above their heads and rushing into cinema halls.
Trade site Sacnilk shared that The Raja Saab earned around Rs 12.27 Cr India net on its first day for all languages by 2 pm.
A fan Vedhava TTlu shared via X, "Just watched Raja Saab. A good attempt at a different kind of movie. First half is fun. Second half feels boring for a while, and then it's a feast for the fans until the end. Ending could've been better. If you are a fan of Prabhas, go experience it on the big screen."
Prabhas-starrer The RajaSaab springs a surprise on audiences with its closing moments, clearly signalling that the story is far from over. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the makers reveal that the film will continue with a sequel titled RajaSaab 2: Circus 1935. While The RajaSaab primarily unfolds as a lavishly mounted horror-comedy, its final stretch expands the narrative into a much larger universe. The sequel’s intriguing title hints at a period setting, suggesting a journey back in time that could blend vintage aesthetics, mystery, and spectacle. These elements align seamlessly with director Maruthi’s signature style of fusing genre-driven thrills with mass entertainment.
Trade analyst Rohit Jaiswal shared his movie review for The Raja Saab and wrote, "The Raja Saab is a Royal Disaster Absolute Embarrassment….This isn’t a film, it’s a loud, lazy waste of time that mistakes noise for cinema and scale for substance. The script feels AI-generated, no soul just endless scenes stitched together…Let’s be clear, this is NOT on Prabhas. The man shows up but the film doesn’t. He’s trapped in a clueless mess that neither understands his stardom nor gives him anything worth performing. The horror-comedy angle is not funny, not scary, VFX looks unfinished, sets look fake, editing feels accidental, and the background score keeps shouting to hide the emptiness…… Overall The Raja Saab is a soulless spectacle that insults the audience and squanders a superstar. Prabhas deserved better…..So did cinema…. #therajasaab #prabhas #therajasaabreview #maruthi."
Trade site Sacnilk shared that by 12 pm, Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab earned around Rs 8.26 Cr India net on its first day for all languages.
A fan @FaaltuBooi7 shared via X, "The Raja Saab delivers mass entertainment with Prabhas owning every frame in stylish action and emotional depth! Gripping horror-comedy thrills, killer BGM, and a power-packed climax make it a must-watch blockbuster. Run to theaters now! #therajasaab."
The Raja Saab release was not without hiccups. As per reports, delayed screenings of the film at several theatres in Hyderabad lead to angry fans protesting. Special screenings of the film were supposed to take place at 8pm on January 8. However, as there was some delay, it lead to tension at multiple venues.
Ranveer Singh's film has enjoyed a long and uninterrupted run at the box office as it moved past competition without nary a worry. However, it appears after 35 days of release, Dhurandhar finally has competition in the form of Prabhas' The Raja Saab. As Dhurandhar sees a serious drop on the number of screens, its earnings came down to Rs 4.25 crore on Thursday. The Raja Saab, on the other hand, earned Rs 6 crore net by 10 am on Friday. This figure also includes paid previews on Thursday evening.
The Raja Saab has released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. According to trade analysts, the film is expected to make about Rs 60-crore mark in domestic earnings on the first day. The film also received an edge on the eve of its release as Vijay’s Jana Nayagan was postponed, and this gave it 250 additional screens in Tamil Nadu. In the absence of a big Tamil release on Friday, this could lead to The Raja Saab earning more than projected in Tamil.
A fan @Bambi_Buzz shared via X, "Too much noise surrounding #therajasaab right now. Beyond the chatter, the film works as a clean theatrical experience, with #prabhas anchoring a watchable commercial outing."
X user @storyantra shared, "#therajasaab First Day First Show is out. Prabhas shines in emotional scenes, but the film divides opinions. Climax gets applause, screenplay faces criticism."
About a month ago, Nidhhi Agerwal was mobbed after she was making her way to her car following a promotional event for her film The Raja Saab in Hyderabad. Asked about the incident, Nidhhi told PTI, "Well, it was an unfortunate incident that took place that day." However, the actor added that she will find the right time to talk about the incident in detail and shared, "I have so much to say about that incident, but I feel like I want to speak at the right time because it's a very sensitive topic, and anything I say can be taken out of context by people who are reading stuff and all of that. So I will talk about it, but in some time."
The Raja Saab Movie's X page shared, "The verdict is clear and loud with fans and audiences calling it the “BEST CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE” for its sheer awesomeness. Book your tickets and experience the world that unfolds on Big screens #blockbustertherajasaab."
Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab ultimately does little to justice its solid central idea, unfolding as a sloppy and outdated affair from start to finish. Despite Prabhas’ affable screen presence, the film repeatedly spirals out of control, failing to find a consistent rhythm or emotional depth. What begins as a delectable proposition — a coming-of-age story centred on a young man determined to reclaim his doting grandmother’s lost reputation — soon loses its way amid muddled storytelling and uninspired execution. The promise at the outset is undeniable, but the film never quite capitalises on its potential, leaving behind a largely underwhelming cinematic experience.
Actor Rishab Shetty shared via X, "Wishing our darling #prabhas Sir, @DirectorMaruthi, @MusicThaman, @peoplemediafcy and the entire #therajasaab team a massive blockbuster hit!"
X page Telugu360 shared Raja Saab Movie Review that read, "Raja Saab is a below average film. The humongous climax Action / VFX episode appeal for fans and the mass audience but its too late. The core story which is mix of horror, tantrik elements, hypnosis, and paranormal themes turns out to be confusing - that could have been better. Prabhas and a few isolated episodes emerge as the main saving graces.
Positives:
•Prabhas looks Good throughout, energetic
•The climax action episode works well
•The stretch from pre-interval to interval is engaging
Negatives:
•Weak narration
•Unimpressive songs
•The first hour of the film drags and underwhelms
Overall, Raja Saab had the potential to be a much better film, but ultimately falls short. #theraajasaab #rajasaabreview."
