According to reports, the victim, a 22-year-old construction worker, was attacked with a sickle by a 52-year-old mason allegedly for demanding water. The mason struck the man with a sickle on his abdomen and head. The victim succumbed to injuries.

In another incident, the Maharashtra Police, on Tuesday, found an American woman, 50, chained to a tree in a jungle in the Sindhudurg district. An “attempt to murder” case was lodged based on a note found in the woman’s bag.

The woman, Lalita Kayi, was found on July 27 in Sonurli village in Sawantwadi, over 450 km away from Mumbai, when a shepherd heard her cry for help. The woman appears to be suffering from schizophrenia and is currently admitted to a Goa hospital.
