Hundreds of fans of singer and songwriter Louis Tomlinson were left scrambling for cover after a powerful hailstorm struck an open-air concert venue in Denver, US, on Wednesday night.

The fans had gathered at Red Rocks Park to attend Tomlinson’s Faith In The Future world tour when the weather turned severe, eventually leading to a strong hailstorm that led to the show’s cancellation. Since it was an open-air venue, many fans were injured.

West Metro Fire Rescue, a local fire protection and emergency medical service, tweeted that seven people were sent to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries and about 80 to 90 people were treated near the concert venue. The injuries included cuts and even broken bones.

On Twitter, many concertgoers spoke about the distressing experience. A Twitter user @nikkitbfh shared a shaky video that showed a massive deluge of hail pouring from the sky and wrote, “Tonight was the scariest night of my life. It started pelting people with hail at Red Rocks and my sister and I luckily found shelter under a sign. I am bleeding and have huge bumps on my head from the hail. Hoping everyone made it out safely.”
