A viral video from Lalbaugcha Raja, Mumbai’s popular Ganesh Chaturthi pandal, visited by celebrities and local devotees, caused a stir over VIP culture in religious places. Amid the ongoing chatter on social media, industrialist Harsh Goenka reacted to the video showing regular worshippers manhandled by volunteers.
Sharing the video on X, Goenka wrote, “Ever wondered why people opt for VIP darshan at Lalbaugcha Raja? It’s because the common devotee often faces long waits and crowds, highlighting the unequal treatment. Isn’t faith supposed to be equal for all?”

Many social media users expressed dismay over the video highlighting the striking difference between treatment given to VIPs and regular devotees. A user commented, “We are ourselves responsible for this ..this is ridiculous. I still believe you get more peace of mind if you pray at your home.” Another user wrote, “With money certainly one can enter temple with ease. But to find a place into Gods heart one need to have true adoration & belief towards God.”
“At least worship should be equal to all. VIP Culture at God’s place should be stopped,” a third user reacted.
Recently, TV actor Simar Budharup alleged mistreatment by the volunteers at the Lalbaugcha Raja pandal. The Kumkum Bhagya actor was visiting the pandal with her mother when a volunteer snatched her mother’s phone and pushed her.
Another video showed actor Randeep Hooda and his wife Lin Laishram opting for a regular visit instead of getting VIP access. In the viral video, the couple stood in a long queue with other devotees.
