Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has been an open critic of Meta’s newly launched social network Threads. He had previously described Threads as a ‘Twitter clone’.
However, despite this criticism, it appears that he has opened an account on Threads. It is interesting to note that Dorsey’s last Instagram post was over 10 years ago, in April 2012.
On Sunday, Dorsey took to Twitter and shared a screenshot that showed Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg sending him a “follow” request. He also took a dig at Zuckerberg and wrote, “Too soon b”.
Dorsey’s post has so far gathered over 57,000 likes. Commenting on it, many people sided with him and chided Zuckerberg for creating Threads by copying Twitter’s features.

Echoing this view, a Twitter user wrote, “I cannot believe a U.S. tech giant would be desperate enough to just do a straight copy of another tech and then selling that for more money. What a loser!”.
However, a few people noted that Dorsey himself founded Bluesky Social, which is similar to Twitter. Making this point, a Twitter user said, “I don’t get this dynamic or why it’s personal. Was Jack himself not working on a Twitter competitor? Zuck didn’t even launch threads until Elon absolutely wrecked Twitter…”.
Threads was launched on July 5 and registered over 150 million users within a week.
