According to data from the Airport Authority of India (AAI), 104 IndiGo flights including 52 arrivals and 52 departures were operational, while 10 flights (five arrivals and five departures) were cancelled on Friday. IndiGo announced that it’s board has approved the appointment of an external aviation expert to assess the recent flight disruptions.

The airline’s board has approved the appointment of Chief Aviation Advisors LLC, led by veteran aviation expert Captain John Illson, to conduct an independent analysis of the recent operational breakdown and its contributing factors. The move follows the recommendation of the airline’s Crisis Management Group (CMG), which advised bringing in external specialists to assess the disruption.

AAI officials said operations were largely running on schedule and that except a few cancellations, the situation was back to normal. At Pune Airport, passengers said their travel experience was seamless after the crisis. “This is my second flight after the crisis, I’m coming from Raipur (6E 6895) and my flight functioned as per schedule, the journey was quite comfortable,” said Alok Kumar. “I came from Nagpur to Pune (6E 6095) I was expecting that there was going to be a delay considering the situation but surprisingly my flight was right on time and I faced no difficulty at all,” said Renuka Phadke.

Passengers also said they were informed of minor schedule adjustments in advance and faced no inconvenience. “I flew from Hubballi to Hyderabad and Hyderabad to Pune (6E 7068), they postponed my flight but I was informed a day in advance about this change, apart from this my experience was really nice,” said Beeti Nayak.

Some travellers had come to the help desk to verify their flight status and said operations appeared stable. “I just flew in from Hubballi, I’m going to go to Pune to Guwahati (6E 623) and Guwahati to Dimapur, I came to check my flight status and it seems to be running as per schedule, my flight right now was on time as well,” said Mukhtar Ahmed. “My Pune to Bengaluru (6E 6055) flight is right on time, the chaos is over now the things have gotten back to normal,” said KS Shridhar.”

A few passengers admitted they had booked alternative airlines earlier in the week fearing further delays, but said IndiGo’s operations were back to normal since then. “Despite being 10 minutes late our Chennai to Pune flight (6E 183) was mostly on time. We had a visa appointment so we had to book an expensive Air India Express flight from Pune to Bengaluru to Chennai as before this we were stuck for 12 hours from Mumbai to Chennai and from Chennai to Pune faced more than 20 hours of delay so compared to that this was a great experience, things seem to be getting better for IndiGo,” said Vanessa S.
