At the top of the list was his daughter’s health, Kalra explained that living in Delhi-NCR could have worsened her asthmaIn 2019, Prashant Kalra made a bold decision to leave Gurgaon and move to Goa with his family, a choice many initially saw as reckless. Reflecting on it in an Instagram post, Kalra shared how the move transformed both his personal and professional life.
“While I’m a realtor, I’m also a father and a husband. The risk we took when we decided to move to Goa in 2019 would seem reckless to most,” he wrote, before outlining the key reasons behind his choice.
At the top of the list was his daughter’s health. Kalra explained that living in Delhi-NCR could have worsened her asthma and bronchitis, but since relocating, she has stayed healthy. “She was 3 when we moved. Today she’s 10 and she’s healthy.”
He also reflected on the career trade-offs. Staying in the corporate grind might have led him to a high-ranking position at a law firm with a substantial income, but it would have meant working for someone else indefinitely. In contrast, Goa gave him the chance to carve out a lifestyle on his own terms. “I may never have discovered this alternate lifestyle that Tpb allows me. To do something I love, at my own pace and at my own time,” he said.
The move also encouraged him to focus on health and fitness, something that a hectic metro life would have made difficult. “I would never have focused on my own health and fitness because I wouldn’t have had the time,” he admitted.

Ultimately, Kalra feels that relocating allowed him to live a life “people dream of retiring to,” but much earlier than most.
The post has struck a chord online. One user commented, “It’s great to have the opportunity to do this as long as Goa retains its culture and eco system. It is hard to believe any real estate business in Goa is functioning on non-converted land, especially if there are new constructions involved.”
Another pointed out that while Goa offers clear benefits, life in Gurgaon isn’t unbearable. “We’ve been in Gurgaon for 32 years, and surely it’s not so bad. We have a 6-year-old too, and she’s healthy. Yes, Goa is much better, but GGN is okay too. Walking on dusty streets might affect health, but we walk in parks.”
A third shared a similar dream, saying, “I am a well-settled businessman in South Delhi, and I plan to move to Mussoorie permanently in the next three years. I don’t want to compromise the health of me and my family. I have understood that we don’t need very big money to live; I want to eat self-grown vegetables and live a retirement life in my young age.”
