With increased digitisation and addiction to social media platforms, people remain hooked onto their mobile phones. Now, a video that shows a dog straightforwardly preventing a person from picking up their phone is going viral on social media.
The undated video shows a dog putting its paw over the phone just as the person reaches out to grab it, as if rebuking the person for using the phone too much.
A 10-second video documenting the canine’s gesture was tweeted by writer and podcaster Amit Varma on Tuesday. While tweeting the video, Varma wrote, “We all need a dog like this in our lives”.

Commenting on it, a Twitter user wrote, “he is an accountability coach”. Many people recalled similar things that their pets did to discourage them from being immersed in smartphones. A Twitter user shared, “Mine puts her face in between the phone and my face and I’ve no option but to put my phone away :)”. Another person wrote, “Speaking from personal experience, dogs are aware that smartphones are competing for humans attention. The look I get from Spock!”.
Back in January, industrialist Harsh Goenka shared a video that showed how some primates picked up the mobile scrolling habit from humans. The undated video, which appeared to have been shot in an open space populated by monkeys, showed a group of three curious monkeys peering at a touchscreen phone and seamlessly navigating it.
