The video went viral and racked up more than 100 million views within days. Kristin Cabot, the former HR executive at Astronomer, whose Coldplay kiss cam video became one of the most viral stories of 2025, has broken her silence on the controversy, which has destroyed her personal and professional life.
Kristin Cabot was caught on camera with her married boss, the then CEO of Astronomer, Andy Byron, in July 2025 when they were at a Coldplay concert in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
“I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” told The New York Times.
“I was so embarrassed and so horrified,” she said. “I’m the head of HR and he’s the CEO It’s, like, so cliché and so bad.”
The video went viral and racked up more than 100 million views within days, turning Cabot into what she describes as “a punchline and a target” almost overnight.
And it’s not nothing. And I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay,” she said.
The 53-year-old was in the process of divorcing her then-estranged husband, Andrew Cabot, when the controversy broke out.
Andrew later released a statement confirming that they had been separated at the time of the concert and asking for privacy.
“He has been nothing but a gentleman,” Cabot said.
According to her, the viral video alienated her family, and she received hate mail and even death threats. She was also confronted by strangers when she occasionally stepped out with her two children.
She said everyone in the family began to dread public spaces and social events.
Even now, she said, her children are reluctant to be seen with her.
“I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up. But you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them,” she said.
Speaking about how she and Byron became close, Cabot said it started with a conversation about her marriage being “in a tone,” to which the Astronomer CEO also said he was “going through the same thing.”
According to her, she and Byron had met a couple of times before the Coldplay event, with friends. She also added that the concert was the first and only time they kissed.
After the video went viral, both Byron and Cabot have been out of jobs. She and Byron had been in touch all summer. They exchanged news about Astronomer and updates on their families.
In early September, they met and agreed that “speaking with each other was going to make it too hard for everyone to move on and heal,” Cabot said. Since then, she said, their contact has been minimal.
