Gurgaon was brought to a standstill after heavy rain lashed the city on Tuesday, triggering massive traffic snarls. Amid a sea of videos displaying the state of stranded commuters, a video surfaced on social media showing a group of corporate employees taking an unusual route home by hiring a mini truck.

With aggregator platforms like Ola, Uber, and Rapido either showing no availability or quoting exorbitant surge charges, the employees reportedly booked a Porter mini truck to navigate the flooded streets. The now-viral clip shows them, dressed in formal attire, riding in the back of the vehicle as it carefully moves through submerged roads.

The video sparked a flurry of reactions, with a user writing, “The citizens of this country work hard, it doesn’t matter if they pay tax directly or indirectly. Everyone pays their dues in some form or the other & look at the state of this country. Unbelievable.” Another user commented, “It’s time Ola/Uber/Rapido etc ,include motor boat services or cable car services in their itinerary ,maybe take it as a business proposition, think about it floks….we are waiting.”

As the rains continued to wreak havoc, several commuters shared their struggles on social media. Some reported booking hotel rooms to skip the gridlocked roads, while others claimed they were stranded for hours with no way to get home.

Gurgaon Police issued a public advisory, confirming that more than 100 mm of rain had been recorded between 3 pm and 7 pm on Tuesday. Authorities urged corporate offices to allow employees to work from home and recommended that schools shift to online classes.
