MLA Sunil Shelke alleges MNCs being cheated in Pune by PMRDA officials, brokers

MLA Sunil Shelke has accused local brokers and PMRDA officials of cheating MNCs by selling them land in restricted afforestation and agricultural zones using fake maps and altered documents.

He has sought FIRs and urgent government action, while PMRDA confirmed illegal constructions but said demolition is currently stayed by court orders.MLA Sunil Shelke has alleged that brokers and PMRDA officials duped MNCs by selling them land in restricted zones using fake maps and documents.

MLA Sunil Shelke on Tuesday alleged that multinational companies (MNCs) that are investing crores in Maval area are being cheated by local brokers in connivance with PMRDA officials.

Shelke made the allegations during the ongoing winter session of the state legislature. He also interacted with reporters after raising the issue in the House. “The Mahayuti government has with the intention of generating mass employment brought MNCs like Hyundai in Maharashtra. But some brokers and officials by showing them fake documents sold them land in afforestation and agri zones,” the NCP MLA alleged.

Shelke said some brokers, who were allegedly involved in selling the reserved land to MNCs, did so through fake and altered maps. “Similarly, several companies have been cheated. My demand is that FIR should be filed against such brokers and officials,” he said.

Shelke had last year too raised the issue in the state legislature. “I sought to know as to how permission is being given to set up industries in afforestation zone or agri zones. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule had clearly said such permission cannot be given. He had ordered a probe. The minister had said that in afforestation zones, industries should not be set up. Now we have received documentary proof that industries have been set up in prohibited zones with the help of some brokers and PMRDA officials,” he alleged.

Shelke said companies have come not only in prohibited zones but they have also indulged in extending their illegal constructions.

The MLA said he has been consistently supporting industries in Maval area. “I have not taken any contract from any company,” he said. Shelke also met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and urged him to take immediate action in view of the seriousness of the situation.

When contacted, PMRDA commissioner Yogesh Mhase said, “It is true that companies have extended their constructions in afforestation zones. It is illegal. We had served notice to them to remove their illegal constructions. It is not a smaller extension. The illegal construction is up to two acre on land.”

Mhase said they had decided to remove the constructions on Monday. “However, the companies have secured a court stay,” he said. Mhase said a PMRDA assistant town planner who was supposed to carry out demolition of illegal extensions failed to do so.
