To make captivating art one does not require fancy equipment, and no one proves it better than artist Rahil Jindran who has amassed a following of over two lakh people on Instagram.

One of Jindran’s videos in which he shows how he makes hyperrealistic 3D sketches using pencil colours is going viral. His Instagram reel, captioned “Art is a power”, has over 24 lakh likes.

Commenting on this video, an Instagram user wrote, “I am very attracted you are drawing….you are amazing artist ”. Another person wrote, “Mindblowing … your sketches is too good ”.

Jindran often features celebrities and social media stars in his artwork. In one of his videos, he said it took him consistent practice from 2017 to 2023 to master his skills.

In May this year, a similar video documenting an interactive 3D artwork made using coloured chalks went viral.

The video showed two women drawing a simple, three-dimensional image around a pole, creating the illusion of a platform-like structure around it. After completing the work, the women jokingly “balance” themselves on this drawn platform and walk around it.

This video, which gathered hundreds of likes, was posted by an account that goes by the name Punam Art Academy (@punamartacademy) on Instagram and YouTube.

In August last year, another artwork on a tree trunk, posted on Twitter by a popular account Gabriele Corno (@Gabriele_Corno), mesmerised netizens. In it, the artist employed trompe-l’œil, a realistic imagery technique, to create an optical illusion which made it appear that a girl was spinning on a ball in the middle of a tree trunk.
