She said she’d worked with the Trust during her graduation project and knew its commitment to accessibility
The internet has an uncanny ability to change lives in an instant. For some, it brings sudden opportunity; for others, it can spiral into chaos.
One person who has experienced both sides of this digital coin is the young woman the world came to know as the “Bandana Girl”.
The trend began on November 2, when a woman posted a tiny 2-second clip of herself riding in an auto-rickshaw. Wearing a white top, silver earrings, soft makeup and a bandana, she casually checked her makeup and captioned it, “Makeup ate today.”
The moment’s simplicity struck a nerve online. Within hours, the video exploded, spawning memes, recreations and endless commentary across platforms. The internet christened her “Bandana girl”, and the clip has now crossed an astonishing 114 million views.

In an interview with media tech company The Juggernaut, she introduced herself as Priyanga, who goes by Bud Wiser on X and describes herself as a “party girl”.
Her sudden fame didn’t come from months of content strategy or big production; it was a blink-and-you-miss-it video that unexpectedly put her everywhere.
Very quickly, though, the viral attention turned dark. Priyanga shared that strangers had started using her photos to create AI-generated images without her approval. Distressed by how far and fast these manipulated visuals spread, even reaching people she personally knew, she locked her X account.
On November 23, 2025, she announced her break from the platform. “This is going to be my last tweet for a while. There are a lot of AI-generated images and videos of me being circulated that I DID NOT CONSENT TO.”
She urged people to think twice before using AI tools to alter photos of real individuals. “Please stop feeding AI applications media of real people. This has actual real-life consequences. Please ASK FOR CONSENT before you upload anything onto an AI platform.”

But as the numbers climbed, so did speculation about how much money she’d earn from the viral hit. Some users estimated her payout to be “more than 5 lakh”, while another guessed “$4237.”
After keeping a low profile, Priyanga briefly returned to X with an update that surprised many. Tagging her viral post, she said she had donated most of her platform earnings to the Swabhimaan Trust in Chennai, an organisation that supports adolescents and young adults with autism.
She added that she had collaborated with the Trust on her graduation project and was aware of its commitment to making therapy accessible to neurodivergent individuals.
Interacting with this for the last time to say that I donated most of my payout to Swabhimaan Trust in Chennai, a trust for adolescents and young adults with autism. In a post dated December 8, she said the Trust focuses on offering therapy services and essential support to autistic youth, helping ensure those services remain within reach for families who need them.
Her act of generosity quickly won hearts online, and messages of appreciation poured in.
A user wrote, Great job and for a good cause! Feels like a collective win.”
Another user commented, “Standing firmly behind a cause you believe in and putting your money where your values are says everything about your integrity. The algorithm elevated you for the right reasons. Keep going. What deserves real respect is the dignity and strength with which she handled sudden attention. Even amid trolling, smear attempts, and rage baiting that exploited her image for reach, she never faltered. And then this. Absolute respect. Hats off.”
A third person commented, “There can be no greater gift than giving of one’s time, energy and resources to help others without expecting anything in return. It is in reaching out to those in need that we reaffirm our shared humanity. Great work Bandhana Girl.”
