Flying along with kites in the sky sounds like the stuff of dreams. However, a video that shows a man on a kite string and soaring hundreds of feet off the ground is going viral on Twitter.
This impossible-sounding incident reportedly took place in Tangshan, a city in northern China. The undated video was shared on Twitter by the New York Post (@nypost) on Sunday.
In the video, the man can be seen cheering while he is up in the air. At some point, he lands back on the ground before attempting to fly back again.

The person who recorded this video, now identified only by his first name Tao, told the New York Post his friend who chose to fly alongside the kites did it intentionally. He also explained, “The kite string is made of professional Kevlar and we use safety harnesses when playing, so there won’t be any problems. Of course, only professionals dare to play like this,” he said.
Tao, who owns a kite shop, asserted that taking a flight on the Kevlar kite string is not dangerous.
In December 2021, a similar video from Sri Lanka had gone viral. The video showed a man being swept in the air by a runaway kite. As per local reports, the man was attempting to fly a large kite that was tied to jute ropes. However, due to unexpected and heavy gusts of wind, the kite picked up speed and swept him away as he lost control. Fortunately, the young man was able to land safely and sustained only minor injuries.
