The Ahmedabad City Traffic Police on Sunday registered a second FIR against the woman who was found to be involved in an argument with a head constable over traffic violation on Friday evening, purported video of which went viral on social media.
In the video, during the argument, the head constable is seen slapping the woman. He has been suspended from service in connection with the case and an offence has been registered against him on charges of assault and criminal intimidation on the basis of the woman’s complaint.
The second FIR has been registered against the woman by a woman police constable in connection with an alleged incident that happened near Shyamal Cross Roads in the city on November 14.
In the latest FIR, the woman police constable alleged that the incident took place around 1:15 pm on November 14 when she was posted near Shyamal Cross Roads and the accused woman was passing by on a two-wheeler without wearing a helmet. The traffic police, in a press release on Sunday, stated that when she was stopped to issue a memo, the woman allegedly used obscene language and threatened the woman traffic constable to strip her of her uniform.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic (West), Bhavna Patel said that the woman constable saw the latest viral video in which the woman is involved and realised that she is the same woman who had threatened her in November. Following which, the woman traffic constable has filed a complaint against her.
“We have registered an offence against her (the woman) today,” DCP Patel said.
The FIR has been registered with N Division Traffic Police Station against the woman under charges of obstructing a public servant in the discharge of her public function, reciting obscene words in public place and criminal intimidation under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Motor Vehicle Act.
The first FIR was registered against the woman on December 19 for rash driving, obstructing a public servant in the discharge of her public function, reciting obscene words in public place and criminal intimidation under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and Motor Vehicle Act.
According to the latest FIR, as the woman was riding a two wheeler without wearing a helmet, the woman traffic constable tried to stop her for issuing a memo. However, she allegedly did not stop. At this moment, the woman constable tried to generate a memo from an application on her mobile. However, it could not be issued due to some technical error. Some time later, the woman again came to the spot and asked the woman constable to cancel the memo issued to her. As the woman was informed that the memo was not issued due to technical error, she thought that the woman constable was lying and allegedly used obscene language at her. Subsequently, she was allegedly persuaded away from the spot by other staff present at the spot.
Meanwhile, as the traffic head constable had been suspended from service, the woman had also lodged a complaint with Paldi police station. A senior police officer of Paldi police station said that they have registered an offence of assault and criminal intimidation against the traffic head constable on Saturday.
