The gesture wasn’t random––it was for his daughter, Tara, who turned eight on September 2. Djokovic explained during his on-court interview that the choreography was her idea: “It’s my daughter’s birthday so this is a big present for her. Actually the dance in the end, she’s going to rate me tomorrow how the dance was because she told me how to dance. It’s KPop Demon Hunters and ‘Soda Pop’ is the name of the song.”
The Serbian star admitted he only discovered the craze thanks to Tara. “Obviously it’s a big thing globally for teenagers and for kids, but I didn’t know about it before my daughter told me a few months ago. So we’re at home doing different choreographies and this is one of them, so hopefully I’ll make her smile when she wakes up tomorrow morning.”

The videos went viral and netizens were all for it. “This isn’t tennis, this is performance art,” commented Binance’s official account. A user wrote, “Yep, he is definitely drinking some sort of a youth potion. It feels like the more he competes, better his physical condition gets.”
Another individual wrote, “As a Federer fan, I think honestly right now, we are witnessing the greatest tennis player to ever touch a tennis court. The longevity, the consistency, there will NEVER be a player like Djokovic probably ever again.”
The Netflix account reposted the clip on X and wrote, “My little soda pop.” Another user commented, “This is so cute because he learned that dance for his daughter’s birthday.”
Fans were especially delighted by the moment, not least because of the global craze around KPop Demon Hunters. The hit animated action-fantasy, centered on the fictional girl group HUNTR/X and their demon-slaying adventures, has sparked a cultural wave—fueling everything from fan art and cosplay to viral dance challenges and cover performances online.
Meanwhile, on the tennis court, Novak Djokovic overcame home favourite Taylor Fritz in a four-set battle—6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4—booking his place in the US Open semi-finals. The 24-time Grand Slam champion is now set for a high-stakes clash against Carlos Alcaraz.
