A heartwarming text exchange between a Canadian manager and his remote team member in India has reignited the conversation around corporate burnout and work-life balance. The Indian employee, who works remotely for a Canadian company, shared the discussion on Reddit, calling himself “blessed” to have such a considerate manager. The conversation began with the manager initiating a surprising message. “I would like for you to take a few days off," the manager wrote. The employee responded simply with, “Ok,” to which the manager followed up by writing, “You look tired, you are tired.” The employee replied that he was already planning to take a few days off towards the end of the month. But the manager gently insisted, prioritising the employee’s health over work. “Health goes first, bro.” The employee shared a screenshot of the chat on Reddit under the title “Canadian work culture." In a follow-up comment, the employee explained, “The guy called 'M' is my manager. It's not that we are too laid back in our work—we’ve pulled late nights too. But when it comes to health and taking time off, that's respected or rather promoted.” See the post here: Canadian Work Culture byu/RegularTrifle1278 inIndianWorkplace The post quickly gained traction, garnering a range of reactions. "Its well known how indians behave in work place vs western people. We have grown up that way, ill treat servants and poor people and also get illtreated by powerful and rich ones. Reflected in culture," a user wrote. "I think good managers also exist. I have worked in various companies in India for almost 15 years and barring my first manager everyone has been very good. Now that I have my own small company. I do the same with my employees," another user commented. "Indians should learn from this. My manager is literally an a*** he says who are you to take decisions when ever i punchout on time. Indian work places are full of bullies," a third user reacted.
