Intel at its “AI Everywhere” event gave us a sneak peek at its new Intel Evo Edition platform, built on top of the newly announced Intel Core Ultra processors. With the latest standard, Intel is further pushing the envelope in terms of overall user experience on a Windows-powered ultrabook laptop.

A laptop with Intel Evo Edition branding promises to offer a more streamlined user experience across the brands with similar user experience on various form factors. Besides, Intel also includes an upgraded Intel Unison, which enhances the compatibility between a PC and a smartphone, running on either the Android or iOS platform.

This new experience is backed by the latest Intel Core Ultra processor with a hybrid CPU cluster, consisting of P cores, E cores, and LP E cores along with an Arc GPU, and a neural processing unit to handle AI-related tasks. While the P or performance cores are helpful on single-threaded tasks, the E cores help deliver better multi-threaded performance, and the low-powered E cores will further improve efficiency, especially while running simple tasks like video streaming.

Intel Evo Edition laptops will include a sticker, which helps differentiate between regular notebooks with the Intel Core Ultra CPUs and the Evo Edition certified machines. The company also claims that an Evo Edition-certified laptop will run cooler, quieter, and will be more responsive. On top of that, these machines can instantly wake from sleep mode in less than 1.5 seconds. They will also support fast charging and offer at least 4 hours of battery life with just 30 minutes of charging.

Other parameters required to be eligible for Evo Edition branding include high-quality cameras that meet the VCX camera matrix standard of greater than or equal to 32. This indicates that an Intel Evo Edition-certified laptop will include a high-quality web camera with better resolution, low noise, and higher colour accuracy. In terms of connectivity, there will be Wi-Fi 6E compatibility and an advanced connection manager.

Intel also showed us a few early prototypes of the Samsung Galaxy Book4 series with Intel Evo Edition certification, which offered features like high-fidelity gaming on titles like Ghostrunner 2, powered by the integrated Arc GPU, which will be available in select markets starting January 2024.
