Just days after introducing the Llama 3.1 large language model (LLM), Meta has now introduced an AI studio, which allows users to create their own AI versions that can interact with followers. Meant for creators and businesses, users can now create their own AI characters, trained using the data available on their profile. Right now, this feature is only available in the US.

According to Meta, the user’s AI character can talk and respond to users. Users can either create a custom AI character via Instagram or from the Meta AI Studio. Meta says its AI Studio has been designed to create and share AI characters without requiring any technical skills.

A user can currently create an AI character as their own extension. There is also an option to create an AI character based on interests such as cooking, trivia, interior design, and more.

Users can customise the character’s name, personality, tone, avatar, and tagline. According to Meta, the AI character can help your profile reach a wider audience and provide followers with quick answers to certain questions. Creators will also have the option to enable/disable auto-responses and to offer enhanced transparency, responses from the AI will be labelled.

AI characters can also generate jokes and memes, help with travel advice, and more. Currently limited to Instagram, AI characters will expand to other Meta platforms like WhatsApp and Messenger in the coming days.
