The Indian Premier League 2025 is set to return after being abruptly suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to the conflict between India and Pakistan. However, with the ceasefire agreement put into place between the two bordering countries, things are getting back to normalcy. The last one week saw the Punjab Kings versus Delhi Capitals IPL 2025 being put on hold, followed by the league’s suspension, then players being evacuated from Dharamsala via a specially arranged train, to players returning to their homes.

Here’s looking back at all the major developments related to IPL 2025 in the last one week:

8th May 2025 (Thursday): PBKS vs MI match shifted to Ahmedabad

The first major development came when the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, scheduled for May 11 in Dharamsala, was shifted to Ahmedabad owing to the closure of the hill town’s airport in the wake of military action against terror infrastructure in Pakistan.

8th May 2025 (Thursday): PBKS vs DC match in Dharamsala called off  midway

Thursday evening saw the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala being called off due to security reasons. This was after the floodlights at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala went off. Arun Dhumal, IPL Chairman, said that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure, based on the red alert issued in Jammu. This development put IPL under a cloud of uncertainty, following a blackout and air raid alerts in neighbouring towns, including Pathankot, just 90 km from the stadium.

The match was called off after Punjab batted for 10.1 overs, putting a strong 122/1 on the board. Openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh struck classy half-centuries before the match had to be abandoned.

This development happened after the Indian armed forces launched precision missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including the strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke. The strikes were in response to the attack in Pahalgam in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were gunned down.
