Yadav trick for Mumbai

mumbai, Nov 19: Spurred by a hat-trick by Abhishek Yadav of Ruia College, Mumbai University opened their campaign in the all-India inter-university inter-zonal football tournament by blanking hosts Azhagappa University at Karaikudi today.

Abhishek, a second year Arts student who plays for Rashtriya Chemical Fertilizer RCF in the Wifa Super Division league, scored three goals, while Agnelo Fernandes Khalsa College scored the fourth. Abhishek had finished joint second highest scorer, with five goals, in the recently concluded Wifa league.

In another match, Calcutta and Punjab drew 1-1 in the four-team Pool A league. While defender Raju Sen scored for Calcutta, Charanjit Kumar equalised for Punjab. In another match in the pool, Lakshmi Bai National Institute of Physical Education defeated Bharathidasan 3-2. In pool B, Kerala got walkover over Jiwaji University.
