While projecting third Mumbai as the game changer in Maharashtra, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday announced investments worth Rs one lakh crore. He also announced Raigad-Pen as the first growth centre in the third Mumbai. Fadnavis made these announcements on Wednesday on the sidelines of the ongoing World Economic Forum meet at Switzerland in Davos.
The third Mumbai will be bigger than the present financial capital of India in Maharashtra. It has immense potential to develop and emerge as the growth centre complete with educational and medical hubs, he explained. Saying, “ The Raigad-Pen Growth Centre would become the first city in the third Mumbai.”
On the second day of the business at Davos, Fadnavis focussed on exploring the investments and knowledge partnership on multiple fronts including technology.
The official note shared by the CMO said, “ The strategic MoUs signed included technical cooperation agreements with the University of California, University of Berkley, Technical University of Munich, Urban Futures Collective—Londo, ICC– Italy, A*STAR Tuning Institute Norwegian Geotechnical Institute and Subana Jurong of Singapore in the field of urban planning.”
According to Fadnavis the state is heading for greater knowledge and technology partnership with global players. Apart from that their visit would also bring large scale industries. As a major step towards upgrading infrastructure and transport sector measures were initiated towards collaboration on urban planning and partnerships.
Another sector which received higher priority during the visit was heath care. To ensure health care reached the last man, the last mile, eventful discussions on medical and technology was held at Davos. Based on the outcome of the summit, the state has chalked a roadmap, the CM said. Maharashtra will have a Med-Tech startup ecosystem for which the government signed MoUs with best companies.
The Raigad-Pen growth centre, new business district will be located 15 to 20 km along Navi Mumbai international airport.. For the past three to four years the state government worked to get clearances from the central government. Following all clearances, third Mumbai was officially announced with Raigad-Pen as the first city.
Based on the concept of plug and play and ready to start concerned authorities and companies will commence work immediately. The project will be undertaken through public-private partnership. The state government, MMRDA, Private players will come together and develop the city.
