When Srinagar went without tea

PM Manmohan Singh, in his opening remarks at the roundtable promised 8216;8216;maximum security with minimum interruption to normal life8217;8217; but on the second day, most of Srinagar went without tea as the security cordon didn8217;t allow milk into the city.

Others had to travel long distances for petrol, another essential commodity running scarce as entry and exit points were sealed. With reports of militants planning suicide attacks security agencies left nothing to chance. The CRPF and army had put up barricades. Most of the milk to the city comes from Pulwama and Budgam. 8216;8216;We haven8217;t had any milk for two days,8217;8217; said Aijaz Qadir Wani of Abi Guzar locality in Srinagar. 8220;For the first time, we were forced to take black tea,8221; he said.
