Vanzara arrested in Ishrat case

The CBI Tuesday arrested D G Vanzara in connection with the Ishrat Jahan encounter case after getting the permission from a special court.

Vanzara,who is accused of killing Sohrabuddin Sheikh,his wife Kauser Bi and Tulsiram Prajapati in a fake encounter,is also an accused in the Ishrat Jahan case. He was the Deputy Commissioner of Police,Detection of Crime Branch,Ahmedabad,in 2004 when the alleged fake encounter took place.

Earlier on Monday a Mumbai court had issued the order to transfer Vanzaras custody to Sabaramti Central Jail in Ahmedabad along with proper security blanket. Following this,the CBI approached the court for arrest order which was granted.

Vanzara is likely to be produced in court on Wednesday if the CBI wants to his further custody to interrogate him in connection with the case.
