Shark Tank India is currently in its fifth season and on the latest episode of the show, two friends from Delhi came to present an innerwear business brand Panteazy. The ‘sharks’ on the panel – Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, Namita Thapar, Mohit Yadav and Kunal Bahl – had a few laughs at the start of the pitch as this was presented as a men’s version of lingerie. However, the limited appeal of the business which offered everyday innerwear as well as more specialised jock straps, thongs etc.
Vikash Dahiya and Praveen Mishra from Delhi presented their brand with the tagline, ‘Andar ki baat hogi sundar.’ As the sharks chuckled listening to this, Mohit quickly asked the pitchers if they would be willing to have Anupam as their brand ambassador. To this, the pitchers said, “Bilkul. Voh suit bhi karenge, sabse zyada atrangi aur stylish (Of course. He will work well. Quirky and stylish).” Anupam also laughed at this and joked, “Phenk ke marunga (I’ll throw this at you).” The founders then extended their net, saying any of the ‘sharks’ could be a brand ambassador as everyone wears underwear.
Panteazy founders respond to Aman Gupta
The pitchers shared that they started their company after a conversation amongst their friends where they wondered why there was no lingerie for men. After incorporating their company in 2021, they started operations in December 2022. The founders shared that they sell different varieties of men’s underwear from Rs 399-799. They also sell bodysuits which are sold at around Rs 2,000. Their average order value is Rs 725.
Aman Gupta commented on the brand’s name, ‘Panteazy’, and said that this gives the impression that they are appealing to someone’s fantasy. The brand also sells speciality innerwear along with selling regular innerwear. As Aman pointed out some flaws in their name, the founders said, “With due respect sir, naam mein kuch nahi hota. Technically toh audio ke liye boAt bhi koi naam nahi hai aisa (With due respect sir, there’s nothing in the name. Technically, audio equipment has nothing to do with boAt.)” The founders went on to add that once someone has a brand, they can manage different categories under it and gave an example of boAt saying that if Aman decides to sell mobile phones, they will also be accepted.

After listening to their sales figures, the sharks agreed that these figures were not very impressive. The founders then expanded on the many logistical challenges they have faced in the recent months.
Kunal Bahl wonders if Panteazy is the next Jockey
Anupam Mittal was the first one to get out of the negotiations as he said, “This product won’t get big.” He also mentioned that he could not see a clear plan in place at the moment. Mohit Yadav said that he couldn’t add much value to the brand and got out of the negotiations. Namita Thapar and Aman also exited the negotiations. Kunal wondered if this would be a competitor to the popular innerwear brand Jockey, or if this could be a sexual wellness brand, but he could not convince himself to invest in the business and got out of the negotiations.
