Two brand-new cars were gifted to kabaddi players at Gurdwara Singh Shaheeda, Sohana, in a special ceremony organised by Punjabi singer Mankirt Aulakh and his team. The vehicles were presented to the Punjab kabaddi players as a mark of encouragement and support for their sporting careers.
After arriving at the gurdwara along with his associates, Aulakh personally handed over the car keys to the players. As they received the keys, the players were visibly emotional and thanked Aulakh and his team.
Encouraging them, Aulakh said, “Tusi mere veer te behna ho. Jinna ho sakeya, tuhade naal kharange. Tusi bas dab ke mehnat karde raho (You are my brothers and sisters. We will stand by you as much as we can. You just keep working hard with dedication).”
In the recent floods in Punjab, Aulakh was actively involved in relief work. While visiting flood-affected villages in Barnala district, he met two young woman kabaddi players, Rajandeep Sharma and Jass Sharma whose house had collapsed due to the floods. Apart from providing financial assistance for rebuilding their home, Aulakh had promised the two sisters on the spot that his team would also gift them a Swift DZire car.
Rupinder Singh Rupa Sohana, a member of Aulakh’s team, said that another beneficiary was Jujhar Singh Jhary, an international kabaddi player from Sohana village.“He has represented Punjab on global platforms and brought recognition to Mohali and Sohana. Keeping this in mind, an i20 car has also been gifted to him by Mankirt Aulakh’s team,” she said.
The cars were originally supposed to be handed over during a kabaddi tournament held at Sohana. However, the event was abruptly cancelled following the death of kabaddi promoter Rana Balachauria at the venue. Due to the incident, the presentation ceremony was deferred and later organised at Gurdwara Singh Shaheeda.
