The couple said they lived in a rented apartment in Bengaluru, with their annual rent coming to Rs 5 lakh
A Bengaluru-based creator couple has sparked a wave of disbelief online after revealing how much they spent in 2025. In a viral Instagram video, Prakriti Arora and Ashish Kumar candidly walked viewers through their yearly expenses while living in the city, and the total caught many off guard.
The couple said they lived in a rented apartment in Bengaluru, with their annual rent coming to Rs 5 lakh. They said health and fitness were non-negotiable last year. Between a personal trainer and Prakriti renewing her Pilates membership, they spent around Rs 1 lakh just on fitness. Their food habits also reflected this lifestyle: groceries, salad orders, and dining out together added up to Rs 2.5 lakh over the year.
Everyday running costs weren’t small either. House help, building maintenance, utilities, and app subscriptions collectively cost Rs 1.5 lakh. On top of that, grooming, cab rides, and other incidental expenses totalled Rs 1.3 lakh.
Travel, however, dwarfed every other category. The couple said they took 63 flights, travelled to 13 countries spanning six continents, and stayed 121 nights in hotels and Airbnbs. All of that came at a price of Rs 29 lakh, making travel their single biggest expense.
Being content creators, they also invested heavily in their work, spending Rs 2.5 lakh on upgrading cameras and other content gear. Shopping, along with what they described as “matching love bands”, pushed their spending up by another Rs 4 lakh.
When everything was added together, their total annual expenditure stood at close to Rs 47 lakh for 2025.

Beyond the figures, Prakriti and Ashish reflected on their relationship with money. They admitted that discussions around finances used to be emotionally charged, but regular money check-ins helped clear “insecurities or doubts” over time. “This is the best time to get talking, grab your pen and paper and define your finances!” they wrote in the caption. The video was shared via their creator page, escapetolandscapes.
Social media reactions were swift and dramatic. One viewer wrote, “I feel i am poor after looking at this reel.” Another confessed, “Wait, I was holding up till the end thinking its some prank.” A third joked, “95% of the peoples package was over till they said major expenses was travel.”
One sarcastic comment read, “Itna to mere puri jeevan ka bhi bugget nahi hai (This isn’t even my entire lifetime’s budget).” Another added, “Thank goodness they didn’t mention its pretty tough to stay in Blr after all these.”
