Spectrum is not for charity: SC

The Supreme Court on Tuesday pulled up the Centre for not making its stand clear on the issue of allocating additional spectrum.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday pulled up the Centre for not making its stand clear on the issue of allocating additional spectrum to GSM telecom operators,allegedly free of cost.

What is the reason for giving free of cost spectrum to companies? It is not a charity, a bench of Justices GS Singhvi and KS Radhakrishnan said while noting that the spectrum had been taken by the Department of Telecom from army in the name of developing telecom sector and to provide such services to common man.
