SC to decide Dayalu Ammal 2G plea today

Dayalu Ammal,wife of DMK chief M Karunanidhi,Monday requested the Supreme Court to exempt her from appearing in a special court hearing the 2G scam case as a prosecution witness.

The request was moved before a bench led by Justice P Sathasivam,which ordered that it be sent to an appropriate bench for hearing on Tuesday. A special bench led by Justice G S Singhvi is hearing matters related to 2G spectrum scam cases.

Ammal,82,had sought the relief on the ground that she had behavioural abnormalities and was progressively losing recognition of even her near and dear ones. She also submitted that she was prone to abrasive behaviour and should thus be exempted from personal appearance.
