The RJD and LJP on Monday clinched an alliance for the Assembly election in Bihar with Lalu Prasad Yadav as their Chief Ministerial candidate. Pashupati Kumar Paras,LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswans brother and state LJP president, will be the Deputy CM candidate.
As per the deal clinched after hard bargaining over the weekend, the RJD will contest 168 seats, the LJP 75 in the 243-member Assembly.
They have identified the respective seats they would contest,Lalu and Paswan declared. They were accompanied by former JDU leader Prabhunath Singh who had joined the RJD recently.
Asked what role his wife and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi will play,Lalu sidestepped the query: Hum pati-patni ka role khelenge.
Lalu and Paswan scotched reports about differences over seat-sharing,saying their alliance was rock solid.
Lalu sought to assure the people that the RJD today is not the same RJD. The RJD has changed a lot.
