Mera Naam Karegi Roshan is a heartwarming story about a father and a daughter. He has two sons too but with the elder one being a rascal and the younger one without a mind of his own,he naturally turns to the apple of his eye,Reeth. The father is a man of principles,has a heart of gold and can sift the bad from the good. These very qualities irk the elder son,who has been waiting long enough for the old man to hang up his boots. He wants the old man to give up his power and property to him but it never happens. His partner-in-crime is his wife,Jasoda,who schemes and conspires all the time. While the husband-wife duo dont tire of hatching devious plans to bump off the old man,every time they end up eating humble pie with Reeth as her fathers safeguard. But it wont be long before they succeed in their plans with the father wishing the rights of his last rites to be given to his only daughter. And then life wont remain a bed of roses for Reeth.

The serial has a few aces up its sleeve,the first being the cast. Vikram Gokhale as the lovable,warm father and Sana Sheikh as the doting daughter she is well-cast,her timid frame notwithstanding are perfect fits! There are a few scenes that establish their relationship beautifully. We particularly liked the one when she does a nazar utaro of her father after he survives a fatal accident. The chemistry is for real. Then there is the pretty Lubna Salim relishing the meaty part of Jasoda. While she does tend to overdo the wicked bit we wish she goes easy on those expressions,she is still notches above the other vamps we see today. And last but not the least is the shows trump card 8211; Yashpal Sharma as the elder brother. He is arrogant,he is a devil,he is emotional,he is angry,he is human…he is a delight to watch. His performance is a lesson in acting for all those who masquerade as villains and vamps on TV today.

Another big point working for Mera Naam8230;is its dialogues. The lines are crisp and thoughtful. Again,something the other shows can borrow.
All in all,Mera Naam Karegi Roshan is not just about a proud father and his dignified daughter but also about a show that has the potential to make television proud.
