Ad filmmaker Rensil DSilva believes that making a feature film is like running a marathon race, while making an ad film is like a 300 metre sprint. DSilva entered movies over a decade ago as the story writer of AB Corps Aks that was directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Best known as the screenplay writer of Rang De Basanti,DSilva made his directorial debut with a film on terrorism,Kurbaan in 2009,produced by Karan Johar. His next directorial venture, also for Johar, starring Emraan Hashmi is yet untitled. He is presently penning a UTV project and is working on the screenplay for the adaptation of Zoya Factor.
It was a lot of fun being on the jury. There were some issues that cropped up but that happens everywhere and it is healthy. It was,in fact,a constructive experience. All the other jury members were people I have always respected and so it was good to work with them.
I am happy with the decisions we made. What is heartening is that we rewarded progressive films.

For me,it was great fun because I was working with some of the most renowned filmmakers of the Hindi film industry. Even spending time with them during our regular meetings made my day. As for the process,in certain parts it was tough. Everyone had a different opinion and we were free to air our views as part of the discussion. However,a consensus by voting had to be reached before finalising a candidate as a nominee or winner. The discussions were between jury members who agreed to disagree. Finally every member of the jury was convinced that all the awards that were given out were genuine and the best of the lot.

I was shooting at a remote place when I was traced by one of the members of the Screen team. I was chosen to be the Chairperson of the jury for Marathi films and I agreed. We three jury members were treated very respectfully and everything was arranged meticulously. I enjoyed the entire exercise of watching movies and choosing the winners. On the day of the event too,the team made sure of the comforts of the jury members and the guests. The event was very well organised with good celebrity presence. Hats off to the entire Screen team.

It was a wonderful but a difficult process to select the best of the lot. Taryanche Bait was a well-made film about a father who is unable to fulfill the demands of his child. It was a sensitive yet convincing film made at par with any Hindi film. Subodh Bhave8217;s variation to the character in Balgandharva is commendable while the way Mansi Salve carried the attitude of an inspector as well as that of a housewife is also praiseworthy. Both were awarded the Best Actor Awards. As for director Kiran Yadnopavit,he handled Taryanche Bait very well.
