School teacher gets 5-year jail term for molesting minor student

As per the facts of the case, the accused teacher was booked in a case of sexual harassment and under POCSO for allegedly inappropriately touching a female student. The FIR was registered in 2023 by the student’s parents. In its submission, the prosecution had told the court that the accused is a “teacher at the school and committed a heinous crime.”

According to the chargesheet submitted in court, the victim reported the incident to her parents and thereafter the parents gave a written complaint to the principal on November 29, 2023 and on November 30, 2023, the principal verified the complaint. The prosecution also informed the court that the statement of the victim recorded under Section 161 of CrPC and Section 164 of CrPC proved that “the accused had committed sexual assault by calling the student to a classroom where no other students were available/present and touched (inappropriately).”
