Lahore: A court has issued notices to the Pakistan Telecom Authority and Religious Affairs Ministry to respond to a writ petition seeking a ban on access to pornographic websites. Taking up a petition by one Sohaib Ahmad,Lahore HC Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan directed the respondents to file replies in a month. Fahad Ahmad Siddiqui,Ahmads lawyer,said the Constitution made it clear that state would take necessary steps8230; to prevent prostitution8230; printing,publication,circulation and display of obscene literature and advertisements.

A cup of tea daily can stave off cancer

London: Taking a cup of tea daily can help slash the risk of developing cancer by shrinking tumours,say researchers. Previous researches have already linked teas healthy antioxidant properties and high flavonoid content to cutting the risk of some cancers as well as heart disease. Now,a new study has shown that black tea could help prevent cancer. In the study,US researchers analysed the compound theaflavin-2 TF-2,found only in black tea and oolong Chinese tea,which has been shown to kill cancer cells.

Rwandan premier christens 22 gorillas

KIGALI: Rwandan Prime Minister Bernard Makuza led a traditional ceremony on Saturday to christen 22 gorilla babies,a practice introduced six years ago for the endangered species. At the event at Kinigi,edge of Volcanoes Natural Park,children disguised as gorillas represented the animals just outside their habitat. Makuza gave one gorilla twin born in February the Rwandan name Ijambo,meaning the word.
