Bharatpur: Curfew relaxed,situation under control

BHARATPUR: The situation on Saturday remained under control in Bharatpur district,which witnessed violent clashes between two communities leaving eight persons dead and several others injured. The district administration relaxed the curfew for five hours from 11 am to 4 pm. Special Task Force and Rajasthan Armed Constabulary are keeping a tight vigil in the entire area,police said. The situation is under control and normalcy is returning. However,the security forces are patrolling the area and keeping a tight vigil, a police officer said.

Boy sets another on fire in Bihar town

MUZAFFARPUR: A quarrel between two minors led one of them to set another on fire at Ahiyapur in the district,police said on Saturday. On Friday night,when seven-year-old Rishikesh was asleep,Mithu,a neighbour who had a quarrel with him earlier,entered his room and doused him with petrol and set him afire,the police said. He suffered 75 per cent burns and was referred to a Patna hospital,they said. An FIR has been lodged in the case at Ahiyapur police station.

3 GRP men loot train,suspended

ALLAHABAD: Three Government Railway Police GRP personnel have been suspended following a complaint lodged here by passengers of a Bihar-bound train that the constables looted them and misbehaved with women travellers. In their complaint lodged on Friday,passengers of Vikramshila Express arriving from New Delhi alleged that three GRP constables boarded the train at Kanpur,looted their belongings and misbehaved with women,GRP sources said. The three GRP personnel were suspended late Friday night.

Airport official commits suicide

Kolkata: A senior official of the Airports Authority of India AAI,Kolkata,jumped from the ninth floor of the Air Traffic Control office on Saturday. The general manager of the aerodrome of Kolkata airport,K K Gupta,resorted to the extreme step around 2.15 pm. According to sources,the airport staff rushed to the scene after hearing a loud thud. Gupta was immediately taken to the Charnok hospital near airport where he was declared dead. Gupta was on leave for the past 10 days as he was supposed to attend a promotional interview in Delhi.
