KLO denies involvement in Jalpaiguri blast

KLO blamed the police for causing “misunderstanding” between the people and the outift.

Even as the investigating agencies suspect the involvement of the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) in Thursday’s blast in Jalpaiguri,in which five people were killed, the outfit denied any involvement in the attack.

In a statement issued on Friday, the KLO refused to take responsibility of the blast. Instead,it blamed the police for causing “misunderstanding” between the people and the outift.

“We want to clarify that the West Bengal Police has been trying to create a misunderstanding between our organisation and the people of Kamtapur by blaming us for the explosion. The police want to hide their inhuman activities… by saying that it has been done by our organisation,” the outfit said in the statement.

The outfit reasoned that “December 26 is the Matyr’s Day for our organisation. We do not inflict injury on people on that day. Neither do we want people to die and become martyr on the day”.

A senior police officer said they were looking at all possible angles.

“Since, there are several factions of KLO and other outfits are also active in the Jalpaiguri area in North Bengal,it cannot be ascertained so fast which outfit is responsible for the attack. But we are looking into the matter,” said the police officer.
