The CBI on Friday sought judicial custody of former home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and former Ramp;B minister Dharmana Prasada Rao as they appeared in the CBI court here in connection with a disproportionate assets case against Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The CBI on Friday sought judicial custody of former home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and former Ramp;B minister Dharmana Prasada Rao as they appeared in the CBI court here in connection with a disproportionate assets case against Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The CBI filed the memo stating the two former ministers were issuing statements to the media that they were innocent, which is hampering the investigation. The investigating agency also stated that being former ministers they could influence the witnesses in the case. Both ministers had resigned last week after being named in separate chargesheets in the disproportionate assets case against the YSR Congress chief.

Sabitha was named in the chargesheet filed against Dalmia Cements while Dharmana Rao was named an accused in the Vadarevu and Nizampatnam Port and Industrial Corridor Vanpic case. Both cases are part of the larger case against Jagan Mohan.

Jagan Mohan, his auditor Vijay Sai Reddy and former minister Mopidevi Venkataramana, who was arrested last year in the Vanpic case, were among those present in the court on Friday.

On May 14,after taking cognizance of the charges filed against Sabitha Reddy, the CBI court had directed all the accused in the case to be present in the court on Friday. Sabitha and Dharmana arrived at the Nampally court along with a large number of supporters, who created a ruckus outside the complex.

When Jagan Mohan arrived, some YSR Congress supporters raised slogans prompting the CBI judge to warn his lawyers that they would lose the sympathy of the court if they did not restrain political workers from creating a ruckus in the court complex. The court extended the judicial custody of Jagan Mohan and Vijay Sai Reddy till June 21 on which day it will also take up the hearing on the CBIs memo for judicial custody of the two former ministers.
