A COURT in Pune on Monday rejected the anticipatory bail of the suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yewale in connection to the case of irregularities and graft in Mundhwa land deal.
An officer from Pune City police confirmed that Yewale’s anticipatory bail plea was rejected by Pune court on Monday.
The Mundhwa land deal has been embroiled in controversy as the 40 acre land, that fell under the category of Mahar Watan land and was leased to the Botanical Survey of India, was sold to Amadea Enterprises LLP in which Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth is a partner without the mandatory approval of the state government and at much lower price than the market value.
The First Information Report at Khadak police station, which was later transferred to the Economic Offences Wing, mentions names of a total nine accused. Six have been named in connection to the offence related to land parcel of Survey Number 62 in Bopodi of area five Hectares and 35 Ares.
While two more Tejwani and Parth Pawar’s partner Digvijay Patil in connection to the Survey Number 88 in Mundhwa of area 17 Hectares and 51 Ares. The ninth suspect, the suspended Tehsildar Yewale has been named in connection to both the cases as the wrongful orders for both cases have been issued by Yewale. Yewale had earlier secured ad-interim anticipatory bail while a hail anticipatory bail plea was pending before a court in Pune.
Earlier on December 10, the Pune City police had questioned together Yewale and Sheetal Tejwani, the power of attorney holder for 272 watandars of Mahar watan land. Tejwani is currently in custody of Pimpri Chinchwad police.
