Karnataka Lok Ayukta Justice Santosh Hegde officially withdrew his resignation on Wednesday even as the BJP government in the state started the process of appointing an Upa Lok Ayukta,one of the demands made by the Lok Ayukta while submitting his resignation.

“The Governor was reluctant to accept my resignation and had asked me to reconsider. I am sure he will be happy with my continuance,” Justice Hedge said as Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa announced appointment of an Upa Lok Ayukta in a week. Hegde resigned from the post of Lok Ayukta on June 23 protesting the government’s indifferent attitude to corruption.

The exercise, which hasn't been conducted in two decades, aims to update the rolls and eliminate duplicate entries and foreign nationals.
