Gill grilled

Sports amp; Youth Affairs Minister M S Gill had to contend with sarcastic comments of many Rajya Sabha colleagues last week. A discussion in the House on his ministrys functioning saw the BJPs Prakash Javadekar say that Gill was far more effective in the Election Commission,when all political parties were in awe of him. His new avatar as sports minister,said Javadekar,failed to even scare the IPL-wallahs. The SPs Kamal Akhtar wondered how the 75-plus minister had got charge of the ministry,though he may have hardly ever played a game,including gulli-danda. While Gill said he had played the latter and other games,that did not stop Hanumantha Rao from joining the Gill bashing.
